Year 3 and 4 took part in their annual Sports Day today. We were lucky to have glorious sunshine! The children have been practising hard at their various events over the last few weeks, so it was great to see so many families and friends there to support.

Throughout the afternoon, the children gained points for their Houses (Llwyd—Blue, Hafren—Green, Wysg—Red, Ebbw—Yellow). Points were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with the winning House receiving a trophy.

Children participated in a range of track and field events. Mr Carter organised the track events – hurdle relay, skipping, sprint and shuttle relay. On the field, Mr Jones, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Bowden organised the shotput, javelin and long jump. Members of staff from Lloyds Bank had the difficult task of deciding the winners for each race and Mrs Deal and Mrs Evans kept a record of the scores.
The final race was a whole lap of the field! Children showed great perseverance in running such a long distance, with outstanding effort by all.
Mr Rees was ready to announce this year’s winners. All the children performed fantastically throughout but with just 1 point in it, Llwyd House were the winners. 
The children from Llwyd ran around the field to parade the trophy and took their place on the podium for one final picture.
