Year One have loved carrying on with our ‘Julia Donaldson’ theme this half term! We had a busy first week back where we had our Eisteddfod, World book day and Fair Trade Day!
We were so lucky to have a very special visit from ‘Louby Lou’, who is an interactive story teller! Louby Lou took the children to an imaginary Dragon School where they learnt how to be dragons. They also made potions based around the story ‘Room on the Broom’
One of the highlights this term was having the amazing Atomic Andrew from ‘Mad Science’. We learnt lots about different types of chemical reactions and we took part in lots of exciting experiments. We had so much fun!
We have also enjoyed making Gruffalo claws biscuits. The children loved selling these from the hatch at the end of the school day. They also loved making and eating our tasty Gruffalo Crumble with purple prickles! (blackberries!)
We enjoyed reading the story ‘Paperdolls’ and loved learning how to fold and cut paper to make our own paper dolls. It has been lovely to share our favourite memories with each other.
It was great to see so many family members attend our Numeracy workshop in March! The children loved learning alongside their families and showing them the amazing things we do in Year One!
During the last week of term we enjoyed Easter singing and crafts. We worked together to make chocolate Easter nests!
