We have a weekly ‘Cook with your kids’ club at the school where parents come to make delicious food with their children, but ever since we installed our cookery suite, 4 girls in Year 4 have been desperate to show us their cooking and hospitality skills by making a three course meal for teachers.
Before half term, the girls brought in handwritten recipes they’d found for different three different types of curry and a recipe for a chocolate brownie for dessert. They had even created a drinks menu!
This morning, we drove the girls to Sainsbury’s to buy their ingredients and this afternoon, they took over the cookery suite with their mums to prepare a delicious feast!
At the end of the afternoon, teachers were summoned down to the dining room where the girls announced what they had cooked and had everything presented beautifully on the table ready for the teachers to tuck in! There was a delicious smell drifting through the corridors right around the school!
We all sampled each of the curries – spinach and sweet potato, chicken and paneer! There were poppadoms, samosas and onion bhajis too!
For dessert was a delicious warm vegan chocolate brownie with a strawberry on top and whipped cream on the side.
Best meal I’ve had in ages and all the team agreed too! All of the food was absolutely delicious and the girls were great company and kept us entertained whilst we ate together, too.
A huge thank you to the girls and their mums for cooking for us. The only question I have is… what’s on the menu for next week?! 😋
