We are thrilled to share some exciting news from our very own STEM Coding Club. Over the past few months, our dedicated team has been gearing up for the First Lego League Challenge, and we’re proud to report that they knocked it out of the park!
Last week, our STEM Coding Club had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Masterpiece Challenge at St Fagans. This event brought together bright young minds from various schools (primary and secondary), all eager to showcase their skills in coding, robotics, and innovation. And let me tell you, our team truly stood out!
One of the highlights of the event was witnessing the children in action as they overcame many challenges to program their robot to complete a series of missions. With precision and skill, they navigated their robot through obstacles, solved complex tasks, and achieved an impressive total of 180 points!
But it wasn’t just about winning points. Throughout the competition, our STEM Coding Club embodied the core values of the Lego League – teamwork, respect, and innovation. They collaborated effectively, supported one another, and approached every challenge with creativity and determination. Their positive attitude and sportsmanship were truly commendable, earning them respect from peers and judges alike.
In addition to the robotics challenges, our club members also presented their innovation project to a panel of judges. Their project focused on managing screen time in today’s digital age, proposing innovative solutions to promote healthier tech habits among children and teenagers. Their presentation was not only insightful but also well-researched and thought-provoking.
And the icing on the cake? After all their hard work and dedication, our STEM Coding Club emerged as the overall winners of the event, crowned as Regional Champions! But the journey doesn’t end here – we’re now gearing up to compete in the finals against other regional champions over the next few months. We couldn’t be prouder of our team and can’t wait to see them shine.
