Reception spent their first half term in ‘big school’ getting to know their new friends, staying for their first packed lunch and learning lots of new, exciting things! One of the things they enjoyed most was completing the ‘Pory Drwy Story Nursery Rhyme Challenge’. The children spent a lot of time learning new rhymes at home and in school including ‘The Grand Old Duke of York’, ‘Miss Polly had a Dolly’, ‘A Sailor Went to Sea’ and ‘Hicori Dicori Doc’. After many weeks of practising their rhymes, it was time to take to the stage and showcase all they had learnt to their families! They made hats for the occasion and sang with such enthusiasm that it made all of the teachers extremely proud and very excited for the Christmas concert. This was also a great opportunity for the Reception teachers to provide important homework and home reading information for the coming term. The team are enormously grateful for all those who attended the wonderful occasion that celebrated a great first half term with the children and hope the reading resources prove useful. With the help of families at home, they are looking forward to a successful year of budding readers!
