What a busy half term we have had in Reception. We have started our world-wide trip with our topic ‘What a Wonderful World’. We jetted off in style, in our fabulous St Julian’s Airways flight, and landed in France – ohh la la. Whilst in France, we enjoyed making perfume, making and trying French onion soup and participating in our very own ‘Fete de la Musique’. We also had our very own Paris Trashion Week show. We learned about the importance of recycling and then made our own outfits out of recyclable materials.
We then continued on our journey and landed in Japan. We loved trying the Japanese noodles and painting cherry blossom trees. We particularly enjoyed learning about Kodomo no hi (children’s day). This is celebrated in Japan as a way to honour the strength of children. On this day, families hang up carp kites as symbols of the family. We made our own carp kites and had fun waving them around the playground and celebrating what wonderful children we are.
Our last stop before half term was Iceland. Here we enjoyed creating viking long boats and testing which material floats best in water. We have also made delicious Icelandic pepper cookies in our new cooking suite.
A highlight of this half term has to be our amazing sports day. We loved participating and watching our friends race. We especially loved watching the parents race!
On to our next adventure after half term… I wonder where we will land.
