Reception Spring B Update

Welcome to our spring term roundup, where everything has been bright, beautiful… and a lot of fun!

Our theme this term has been ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’, and we’ve been thinking carefully about what beautiful means to us. We discovered that beauty can be found in nature, in our friends and families, in our creations—and even in muddy shoes after a spring walk!

We celebrated Mother’s Day and Easter by making cards and crafts that we absolutely loved making for our loved ones. Our handmade treasures were full of love and smiles, and we hope they brought joy to the wonderful people we made them for.

We also explored the beauty of spring by going on a nature walk around the school grounds. With our trusty checklists in hand, we turned into mini explorers, spotting flowers, buds, bugs, and all kinds of lovely signs that spring has sprung. The blossom on the trees was even kind enough to say hello!

In the classroom, we’ve been getting creative with our engineering hats on, inspired by the brilliant book Rosie Revere, Engineer. Using recycled materials, we built everything from slithery snakes and colourful birdhouses to super cool guitars! We designed, made, and even evaluated our masterpieces like real inventors. Move over, Rosie—Reception’s on the rise!

Our story focus this term was the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’. We dived into the story with enthusiasm, creating some fantastic pieces of writing and even growing our very own beanstalks! Each week we measured our plants, carefully checking their progress—and we’re happy to report that we’ve got some green-fingered gardeners in the making.

We’ve had lots of exciting events this term, including Parents’ Evening, World Book Day, St David’s Day, and our Numeracy Workshop. World Book Day saw a parade of little book characters take over the classroom! We talked about our favourite books with our teachers and even wrote a book review!

We wrapped up the term with our Easter Bonnet Parade and the much-anticipated Rabbit Run—a fun, fluffy finale to a busy and beautiful term!

So that’s all from us for now. We hope you have a lovely Easter holiday and we’ll see you in two weeks! Until then, stay bright, stay beautiful, and don’t forget to water your plants!
