Reception Autumn B Update

What a superb half term we have had in Reception! We have been reading and retelling the story of The Little Red Hen and our teachers are SO very impressed by the improvement we have shown in our writing. Our favourite part of the story was making The Little Red Hen’s bread to share with our friends! This half term, we have also loved taking home reading books for the first time and practising our high frequency words. We are starting to apply all that we have learnt and cannot wait to continue our reading journey in January! This half term has also been about busily preparing for Christmas. We have been learning about the story of Christmas and have spent weeks singing songs and learning lines for this year’s Christmas concert ‘Nativity’s Got Talent’, which we performed last week. Our teachers thought we were AMAZING! The development of our confidence in such a short period of time is really commendable and if this is how we have started our Reception year, imagine what we will be able to achieve by the time we finish! We were also fantastic representatives of our school when we went on our first ever school trip to Tredegar House. We enjoyed going back in time to find out what Christmas was like for Lord and Lady Tredegar and were very lucky to find a special visitor in red who praised us for being ‘the smartest and most polite children’ he had ever met. We are definitely on the nice list!

As we enjoy our very well deserved class parties and final celebrations, we take the time to wish all of the Reception children and their families a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We are, as always, really grateful for all of your support.
