Reception Autumn A Update

Once upon a time, in St Julian’s Primary School, our story began! This first term at school has been a whirlwind of excitement, imagination, and learning, as Class 7, Class 8, and Class 9 embarked on an unforgettable journey. Together, we’ve explored age-old stories, made delicious treats, and even shared our joy with friends in the community.

Our theme, ‘Our Story Starts Here‘ has been the perfect way to kick off the school year. We dove straight into beloved stories, our imaginations ran wild with the adventures of The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We were even lucky enough to have Louby Lou come to visit and bring all of our favourite stories to life!

One highlight of our term was celebrating our harvest celebrations. We gathered around, mixing ingredients and measuring carefully as we baked an apple pie together. The whole school filled with the cosy smell of warm cinnamon, apples, and it felt like a little piece of autumn right on our plates! It was delicious! But that wasn’t all; we had some curious fun weighing different autumn vegetables — pumpkins, squashes, and even potatoes — to see which was the heaviest. Who knew vegetables could be so much fun?

Our adventure continued as we took a special trip to visit the residents of Glyn Anwen. We brought along our brightest smiles, cheerful voices, and artwork we had worked so hard on. Singing for the residents and showing them our drawings brought smiles to the residents faces and our own! We had such a fantastic time!

And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we completed our Nursery Rhyme Challenge! Reciting and acting out rhymes like Miss Polly had a Dolly and The Grand Old Duke of York , we practised words and movements, bringing nursery rhymes to life in our own special way.

As this first term draws to a close, we’re already looking forward to the next chapters of our school journey. Who knows what stories we’ll create, what adventures we’ll find, and who we’ll meet along the way? One thing is certain — with all that we’ve learned, we’re ready for whatever comes next. After all, our story starts here!
