Reception have loved their first half term in school! We have settled so well and we’re all really enjoying our theme ‘Once Upon A Time’. We have read some brilliant stories including ‘The Three Little Pigs’, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Not only have Reception been retelling these stories using actions, we have also created artwork and completed experiments for each one. We predicted then tested the best materials to use to build bridges for the goats and we followed a recipe to make ‘Bear Bread’. We also made a basket of flowers like ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ to send to our friends at Glyn Anwen. We hope they enjoy the biscuits we popped inside too!
Following discussions about different types of homes when reading ‘The Three Little Pigs’, we decided to take a look at some of the houses and homes in our own community. We went for a walk to see what we could spot and were most excited to see a caravan and even some of our own houses too! This led to lots of discussion about how some people do not have a home to go to and so we got in touch with local homeless charity ‘Eden Gate’. We are looking forward to them visiting us to see if there is anything we can do to help in these difficult times! Watch this space!
Finally just a note from the Reception teachers to say how truly proud we are of all of the children so far this year. It has been a somewhat different way to start school but they have adapted extremely well to the new routines and we couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them! Keep up the fantastic work Reception!
