This year, Reception have put a lot of effort into making links with the wider community. In the Autumn Term we visited lots of people who help us and spent time getting to know the residents of Glyn Anwen. This term we thought it would be wonderful to make links with the children in our school who we do not get to see every day. We instantly thought of the lovely Nursery children who will be starting school in September and wondered how we could work with them. The children in Reception came up with lots of ideas for fun activities they would like to do with the Nursery but most of all, they wanted to make friends. We first went down to the Nursery and each Reception child made a ‘buddy’, asking them questions about themselves and chatting about the things they like to do. It was amazing to see the communication between the children and how fond of each other they already were! The following week we invited the Nursery children to come to our classrooms and share a ‘Curiously Creative’ afternoon with us. Together, the children painted pictures, sketched animals and made collages. The Reception children LOVED showing the little ones the ropes and the little ones LOVED learning from Reception! Reception children have made a long list of things they would like to do with their new buddies and cannot wait to continue to learn and share with them this year.
