Every year, Mr Mansfield & Mrs Lewis’ class produce a Christmas video. In 2012, they wrote and recorded their own Nativity Rap, complete with green screened scenes from the Nativity. In 2013, they recorded themselves singing the ‘Bear and the Hare‘ John Lewis advert. This year, they stuck with the John Lewis theme and rerecorded their own version of the ‘Monty the Penguin‘ advert. They chose Billy and Eva from Year 1, to play the part of the two penguins, and Daniel from Y3 to play the part of Monty’s best friend. Pupils in Y6LPM/KL sang Tom Odell’s ‘Real Love’ sound track, over the top of the video.
Our Christmas video is especially recorded each year, for the ‘St. Julian’s Primary School Carol Service’ held at St. Julian’s Baptist Church. After the carol service, there are always lots of requests from parents to upload it to the school’s online video library. Within the first two days of the video being online, it had received almost 1500 views. The combined total of views from YouTube and Vimeo is now at 2,780! With all the attention, the South Wales Argus contacted Mr Mansfield yesterday, to find out more about the video. You can read the article, here.
It was also played at the South East Wales Education Achievement Service’s company day, on the last day of term.
Well done to all the children who took part in the creation of the video – we’re so proud of you all and we look forward to next year’s video!
