Wow! What a way to kick off our Olympics Week. The entire school came together for an action-packed day filled with sporting activities and workshops as part of our Healthy Living Event. The sun was shining and there was a buzz in the air as children gave their all in the various activities on offer.
From golf to dodgeball and hockey to fitness circuits, the day offered a plethora of sports to keep everyone engaged and active. The children had the chance to explore new sports, refine their skills, and enjoy the spirit of friendly competition. The enthusiasm and energy of the children were truly inspiring as they participated wholeheartedly in each activity.
Adding to the day’s excitement, we were incredibly lucky to have Angus O’Brien, a professional rugby player for Newport Gwent Dragons and former Scarletts star, join us. Angus led our rugby activity, sharing his expertise and love for the game. His presence was a highlight of the day, providing an unforgettable experience for all the young rugby enthusiasts.
The day’s focus wasn’t solely on physical activity; we also emphasised the importance of a healthy lifestyle. We are very grateful to ‘County in The Community’ for running workshops where the children learned about the importance of a balanced diet and the nutritional benefits of the foods we eat. These workshops were both informative and engaging, helping the children understand how to make healthier food choices.
Chartwells played a key role in the event by creating delicious smoothies for the children to taste. They also spoke to the children about how easy it is to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their diets. The smoothies were a big hit, and the children left with practical tips on how to enjoy nutritious and tasty snacks.
Forces Fitness was also in attendance, leading a number of team-building and problem-solving activities. These activities were designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and strategic thinking. The children had a fantastic time, especially when they ended their session with a go on the giant inflatable obstacle course. It was a thrilling and fun way to wrap up the day’s events.
It was a brilliant day, and it was lovely to see the children getting stuck in and having so much fun. Their enthusiasm and energy were infectious, and it was clear that they enjoyed every moment. They’ve got a busy week ahead of them with lots of exciting Olympic-themed lessons and activities planned. We can’t wait to see what the rest of Olympics Week has in store!
Stay tuned for more updates and highlights as our Olympics Week continues!
