Very proud of the year 6 ambassadors who represented our school at the Holocaust Memorial Service at St Woolos Cathedral. They showed great empathy and respect throughout the service.
Fragility of Freedom was the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2024. Every year the day has a theme, with this year being Fragility of Freedom, which the trust says allows all to “reflect on how freedom is fragile and vulnerable to abuse.” Holocaust Memorial Day 2024 also marks the 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
Mr Jones, Miss Vers and our year 6 ambassadors attended the service at St Woolos Cathedral. There were many children from Newport schools there, as well as dignitaries such as The Mayor of Newport, John Griffiths SM for Newport East and our Chair of Governors, Councillor Deborah Davies.
We sang hymns, listened to readings of poems and said prayers for all the people who have suffered in holocausts around the world.
