What a fantastic day the Foundation Phase children had celebrating ‘Dydd Gwyl Dewi’ / ‘St David’s Day’ yesterday! We were very lucky to be back in school just in time to celebrate St David and learn all about how wonderful it is to live in Wales. After a busy first week back, the children produced some fantastic artwork to enter their year group competition and prepared a Welsh song to share with the whole phase! Reception completed observational sketches of daffodils and used watercolours to paint them, Year 1 ripped up paper to make castles in the style of Suzanna Carpenter and Year 2 used a draw-a-long video to learn how to draw a dragon! The three judges – Mrs Gough, Mr Mansfield and Mrs Hollings, had the almighty job of deciding the winners in each year group and finally settled on their 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners (apart from Mr Mansfield who couldn’t choose just one for each place…so instead chose three!!). We then gathered together virtually to share our songs and artwork and wish each other a DYDD GWYL DEWI HAPUS! HAPPY ST DAVID’S DAY! A big thank you to all of the parents for pulling a super Welsh themed costume out of the bag for the occasion…we really appreciate your efforts despite the current situation. Check out the video of our fantastic singing and super competitions!
