Friday 9th February saw our annual ‘Family Learning Together Day’ take place at the Beaufort Centre. The day provides a great opportunity for children to learn alongside family members, giving them an insight into some of the work we do at school.
Nursery and Reception took part in the morning session and Nursery, Year 1 and Year 2 took part in the afternoon session. A whole host of activities were available for children to explore. These included friends of 10 hands, making bead strings, tricky word games, snakes and ladders, nursery rhymes, dough disco and many more. The children really seemed to love getting stuck in with them and showing the adults just what they could do. Each child left with a bag full of activities to use at home. There was water and fruit available for the children throughout the both sessions.
As ever, we were delighted to welcome a number of outside agencies to our event. Barefoot Ceramics worked with the children to create some wonderful clay bird feeders, Simon Sparkles kept the children entertained with his shows, Mad Science completed four exciting shows throughout the day and Giggle and Stitch completed sewing activities and gave a little sewing kit to each child. The event would not be the same without all of their efforts so we would like to say a big thank you to all involved for their hard work. We had some Year 5 children help out on some stalls and their help was very much appreciated too.
For attending, each child was entered into a free raffle which will be drawn during the Foundation Phase Assembly next week. They also got a brand new book to take away with them as a reminder of all the fun they had! Family Learning Together Day is always a highlight for the Foundation Phase teachers and it was amazing to receive such positive feedback from this year’s event. Thank you to everyone who attended for giving up the time to work alongside their children, it really was wonderful to see!
